While our Tree Tent’s and hammocks are both quick and easy to set up, like with all camping products there can be a learning curve when first using them. The wildly different look our products have and departure from more traditional designs seen in ground tents attract a lot of questions from both first time buyers and users alike.
Here we answer our top 3 most frequently asked questions so whether you’re a camping newbie or recently getting in to elevated camping you can have a smoother experience on your first pitches.
Without a doubt the most common question people ask after first seeing a photo or video of our tree tents, whether in excitement or confusion, “how do I set it up?” this technically depends on each model but the basics are the same throughout. If you can set up a one person UNA, you can set up a multi-level stack!
You can break down your set up into three steps; preparing to pitch, getting tension, adding shape.
Prepare to pitch: We always recommend you start by laying your tent out between the trees you plan to use, this will give you a good picture of how much space you’re taking up and what the final set-up if going to look like, as well as any issues you might face such as intrusive branches or obstacles in the way of your straps.
Getting tension: All our tents and hammocks use three straps fastened to trees and tensioned with ratchets to create a level and taught base for you to relax or sleep on. This is the stage you might want to spend a little longer on with your first few pitches to double check your angles.
Adding shape: The step where it all comes together! Unlike a traditional ground tent where adding the tents shape can be fiddly, with our simple pole system you simply insert poles into the read sockets and pop up! You can then choose what accessories you want to use with your set up and whether you want to add the rainfly on or not.

Much like everything in nature, your three chosen trees are probably perfectly imperfect!
Don’t worry, you can use the tension in your straps to alight your tent correctly to make sure you have a perfect pitch and a perfect nights sleep. Our Tree Tents and hammocks can fit into a space inside any acute-angled triangle, but if you’re struggling to figure out the angles you can use or alignment app available on both iOS and Android to help.
Our Founder Alex has also created this handy video to help you set up on your next adventure.
While it might seem simple to some, this is a question we get asked frequently, and although every model has slightly different door configurations the general principle is the same.
The easiest way to hop in is to first use your hands to pull the lip of the product down closer to your level, and then simply hop your bum on and lay back into the comfort of your hammock bay.
We always advise setting the product up at 4ft off the ground, but if you’re using it as part of a stack or are a bit higher than expected you can use a webbing ladder on the front of your Connect Tree Tent, or on the central hatch of our 3-person models to gain entry in much the same way you did a tree fort as a kid.
